Appleton DMV

The employee sitting to the left at customer service at 430pm on 10/30/23 was purposely choosing who she was going to help and was ignoring people in line that was ahead of people in line. I needed a new registration and she refused to take care of me and chose someone else who had came in after me,making me get a number. My opinion she does not deserve to work a government job

Check in was lightning fast. If your experience was like mine, you won't be standing in line long. The woman who helped me, Rachel, was awesome. She answered all my questions, and when I was missing documents, she didn't treat it like it was the end of the world. Her demeanor and professionalism was truly a cut above most DMVs I've been to. Only about a 25 min visit, and I walked out with a paper license.

Don't ever go here if you're wanting to take a drivers test. The tests are completely randomized per instructor, and each one is looking for their own certain criteria for you to pass (which is completely dependent on their mood, mind you). It's as if every stereotype about the DMV that you've heard of from any comedian or article was absolutely true when you go here. Long lines, miserable clerks and staff, annoying driver instructors, the whole works is here at this specific DMV. Go anywhere else but here for a drivers test!

I recently took a driver's road test during a rain storm with a young gentleman instructor, (Who was in a bad mood,) and was wrongfully treated... The instructor's result sheet claims I didn't check for traffic at 4 out of 8 intersections, (3 out of 4 I disagree with,) and issues with speed/control during both lane changes... (It was raining, and one of them I was instructed to do right after turning on a road to make sure I turned left at the immediate intersection DURING A DOWNPOUR... Sorry for being cautious...) What truly got me disqualified was when I was an unfamiliar residential area near I41 and he failed me for driving through an uncontrolled intersection, that was impossible determine in the heavy rain, and instead of giving me corrective measures, he claimed I didn't "slow down or look" which I did. What he should have said was I didn't yield and made sure nobody was at that intersection... I believe that instructor was unfair and should be talked to by the supervisor and be given a warning for his performance (or fired if I had a choice in the matter...)

I’ve made five visits here in the past ten weeks, having just moved to Wisconsin in October. They have always been organized, efficient and pleasant — save one unsmiling clerk — for titles, tags, licenses or Real ID for four adults. Today they even opened five minutes early on a gray Saturday and we were through two lines before they were even supposed to be open. Waiting to check out now. PS: All done in less than thirty minutes. Best advice: Know the documents needed for the service you require; they can’t help you without them. And note, there are up to four lines you may have to wait in; be patient, they move quickly.
